How to bulk-set cost per item for all products

Missing cost per item is the number-one reason margins are blank and formula pricing skips products. BulkOps.ai lets you fill it in across hundreds or thousands of products at once — safely, with a preview before anything is written and a snapshot you can roll back to.

Option 1 — from Data Insights

  1. Open Data Insights and find the Missing cost per item issue.
  2. Click its action (Add cost per item) to load exactly the products that need a cost.
  3. Set the cost — a flat value, or a percentage of the current price for a quick estimate.
  4. Preview, then Apply.

Option 2 — from the bulk editor

  1. Go to Products and filter to the group you want — by collection, vendor, product type, tag, or price range.
  2. Choose Bulk edit and pick the Cost per item field.
  3. Set it to a fixed amount, or adjust existing costs by a percentage or amount.
  4. Preview the old → new values, then Apply or schedule.

Option 3 — import from a supplier CSV

If your supplier sends a price list, map its cost column and update everything in one import. See Import a supplier CSV safely.

Always reversible. Every bulk change captures a snapshot first, so if a supplier file had the wrong column you can roll the whole run back from Change History.

Troubleshooting

Some products did not update. Bulk cost edits apply per variant — check that multi-variant products had each variant included in your filter.

Costs look off by a decimal. Confirm the CSV column is in the same currency and not in cents.
