Help CenterBackup & Restore

How BulkOps backups work

Shopify has no built-in version history for your products. BulkOps.ai adds one — plus daily backups — so a bad edit is a one-click restore, not a lost afternoon. Here’s exactly how it works.

Two kinds of backup

1. Operation snapshots (all plans)

Every time you run a bulk edit, a formula, or a scheduled campaign, BulkOps.ai captures a snapshot of the affected records before applying changes. This is what powers one-click Undo.

  • Captured automatically — no configuration needed
  • Stored per-operation with a timestamp and description
  • Restore individual records or the whole affected set
  • Retained 30–180 days depending on your plan

Restore a single operation without losing the rest of your day.

2. Scheduled daily backups (paid plans)

Paid plans add a full nightly backup of your catalog:

  • Runs every night in your store’s timezone
  • Captures every field: title, description, price, compare-at, tags, metafields, inventory
  • Downloadable as CSV
  • Retained 30–180 days depending on your plan

Worked example — undo a bad import. At 2:14pm a supplier CSV overwrites 1,200 descriptions with blanks. Instead of restoring last night’s backup (and losing every good change since):

  1. Open Version history and find the 2:14pm import.
  2. Click Restore on that operation.
  3. Only those 1,200 products roll back — everything else you did today stays.

What’s backed up

In short: BulkOps.ai backs up your products, customers, and orders — not your theme.

Where data is stored

All backup data is stored on Google Cloud Platform, encrypted at rest with AES-256 — the same infrastructure class Shopify uses. You can export backups as CSV or delete your data anytime from Settings → Privacy.
