Black Friday pricing automation guide

The problem with manual Black Friday pricing

Most merchants stay up until midnight to manually apply Black Friday prices — then do it again at midnight on Monday to revert them. With a large catalog, that's hours of stressful work with no safety net.

BulkOps lets you schedule the entire campaign in advance, with automatic revert when the sale ends.

Step 1 — Plan your campaign

Before opening BulkOps, decide:

  • Start time: when prices activate (e.g. Nov 29 at 00:00 your timezone)
  • End time: when prices revert (e.g. Dec 2 at 23:59 your timezone)
  • Discount: percentage off, fixed amount, or formula-based price
  • Step 2 — Create a new scheduled campaign

In BulkOps, go to Pricing → Scheduled Campaigns and click New Campaign.

Enter a campaign name (e.g. "Black Friday 2025"), start time, and end time.

Step 3 — Define the price change

    Choose one of three modes:

Percentage discount — e.g. "30% off all products" Set field to Price, operation to Decrease by percentage, value to 30.

Formula pricing — e.g. "apply 40% margin formula" Select an existing formula or create a new one inline.

Fixed price — set specific prices manually

    Step 4 — Set compare-at prices

For the sale to show strikethrough prices on your storefront, you need to set the Compare At Price to the original selling price.

Add a second rule to the campaign:

  • • Field: Compare At Price
  • • Operation: Set to current Price
  • This runs before the price discount, so compare-at is set to the original price, then price is reduced.

Step 5 — Filter to sale products

Use the product filter to select which products are included. Typical options:

  • • All products (select none for full catalog)
  • • Specific collection(s)
  • • Products with a specific tag (e.g. "black-friday-eligible")
  • Step 6 — Configure auto-revert

Set the On campaign end option to Restore original prices. BulkOps will: 1. Store the current prices before the campaign starts 2. Apply sale prices at the scheduled start time 3. Revert to original prices at the scheduled end time — automatically

Step 7 — Activate the campaign

Click Schedule Campaign. The campaign status shows as Scheduled. You can edit or cancel it any time before the start time.

    Monitoring during the campaign

On the campaign start date, BulkOps sends you a confirmation email when prices are applied. The campaign status changes to Active.

You can monitor progress in Pricing → Scheduled Campaigns. If anything looks wrong, use the Pause button to temporarily halt the campaign and Revert now to restore original prices immediately.

Tips for a stress-free Black Friday

  • • Create the campaign at least 48 hours in advance and preview it
  • • Tag your "Black Friday eligible" products in Shopify to make filtering easy
  • • Test the campaign on 5 products first, then extend it to the full catalog
  • • Keep the BulkOps History tab open on campaign night — you can undo in one click if needed
