How the product health score is calculated
The health score in Data Insights is a single 0–100 number that summarises how clean and complete your catalog is. Higher is better. It is designed so that fixing the issues BulkOps.ai flags visibly moves the number up.
The formula
The score starts at 100 and loses points for every data issue found across your catalog:
score = 100 − ( total issues × 100 / (products × 10) )
So a store where each product averages one issue scores around 90; an average of five issues per product scores around 50. A perfectly clean catalog stays at 100.
What counts as an issue
| Check | Flagged when… |
|---|---|
| Missing images | Product has no primary image |
| Missing SKUs | A variant has no SKU or barcode |
| No description | Product description is empty |
| Missing cost per item | No cost data (blocks margin & formulas) |
| Low margins | Product is priced below 20% margin |
| Duplicate tags | Tag variations that should be merged |
| No vendor | Product has no vendor set |
| Draft products | Product is unpublished |
How to raise it
- Open Data Insights and start with the priority issues — missing images, SKUs, descriptions, and cost per item.
- Use each issue’s bulk action (Add Images, Generate SKUs, Add Content, Add cost per item) to fix many products at once.
- Re-run the scan; the score recalculates against the new issue count.
Good to know. The score is relative to catalog size — the denominator scales with your number of products, so a 10-product store and a 10,000-product store are measured on the same scale.
